AusCare Psychology

Anxiety Psychologist BerwickPractical support for worry, panic and tension.

An anxiety psychologist Berwick locals can see quickly makes a real difference, and we are here to help. Anxiety has a way of making ordinary things feel harder than they should. It can show up as worry that will not switch off, tightness in the chest, trouble sleeping, avoiding situations that used to feel fine, or sudden waves of panic. If any of that is familiar, you are far from alone, and there is a great deal that helps.

Signs of anxiety we commonly help with.

Anxiety wears many faces, and you might recognise yourself in some of these.

  • Constant, hard-to-control worry
  • Racing thoughts and trouble switching off
  • Panic attacks that feel physical and frightening
  • Social anxiety at work, at study or in groups
  • Avoiding places, tasks or situations
  • Restlessness, irritability or feeling on edge
  • Trouble sleeping, or a racing mind at night
  • Physical tension, a churning stomach or fatigue

How we treat anxiety.

We use approaches with strong evidence behind them, chosen and paced to suit you.

Cognitive behavioural therapy

We help you notice and shift the thinking patterns that fuel anxiety, and give you practical tools for the moments when worry spikes.

Acceptance and commitment therapy

We help you loosen the grip of anxious thoughts and reconnect with what matters, rather than spending all your energy fighting how you feel.

Gradual, gentle exposure

Where avoidance has narrowed your world, we help you widen it again step by step, always at a pace you agree to.

What to expect.

  1. 01

    Understanding your story

The first session is mostly about what has been happening and what you are hoping for, with no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with.

  2. 02

    A shared plan

You and your psychologist agree on where to begin and what progress would look like for you.

  3. 03

    Building skills

Session by session, you develop practical tools and put them to work between visits.

Funding your anxiety sessions.

A Mental Health Care Plan from your GP may make you eligible for a Medicare rebate on a set number of sessions. NDIS support is available where psychology is included in your plan, and private appointments are available without a referral.
